The children in our school take readings from the instruments in the weather station each morning. Here are the instruments that we use.
Maximum-Minimum Thermometer
Small metal markers with the thermometer tubes record the highest and the lowest temperatures reached.
Wet-Dry Bulb Thermometer
One thermometer is dry while the other is kept wet. The difference between the two temperatures gives an indication of how humid the air is.
Rain Gauge
When it rains, some of the rain water gets caught in the cylinder. We measure the amount of rain that has fallen in millimeters.
Barometer
The barometer measures the barometric air pressure. We take readings at the same time every day.
Anamometer
On windy days, we can use the anamometer to measure the strength of the wind.
